Rochelle lives in New York City and has been painting professionally for over 20 years. She graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Photography and practiced photography professionally for many years. When Rochelle decided to build a studio in her home, she began to paint full time.
Rochelle spent her childhood and young adult life drawing and sketching. She spent much of her early adulthood capturing moments on camera and worked for the mayor's office documenting crime in the city. This experience brought her a different level of attention to detail and exposed her to things that have continued to inspire her artwork for years to come.
Rochelle is inspired by classic pieces as well as modern art. She is a life-long learner and continues to enroll in studies at various art schools throughout Manhattan to continue to hone and build her skillset. Rochelle has also dabbled in woodwork, sculpture, and mixed media art. The media she uses most is acrylic, however she also uses water colors, oil, and pastels.
The artist in me embraces the process of creating each piece, every time learning something new about myself, my subject, and our ever changing world.
How can we exist as humans without the joy and beauty of art?
Take a deep breath and look around, it's right in front of you.
